Investing in Family planning for Sustainable Development Goals 1 to 6

The Sustainable Development Research Center (SDRC) based in Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology (SZABIST), Karachi, was an active partner in organizing a conference on ‘Investing in Family planning for Sustainable Development Goals 1 to 6’ with Population Association of Pakistan. The conference was held at IBA City campus on Nov 25-26, 2016 and was attended by a large number of policymakers and professionals from the population and development sectors with the main objective to share scientific knowledge and experience and promote policy advocacy on critical issues in population. Important dignitaries such as Dr. Seba Sattar and Dr. Hassan Mohtashami reflected on the population dynamics of Pakistan and how to achieve SDGs through population planning. During different sessions on both days of the Conference, the Population dynamics was deemed central to the SDGs and therefore inter-sectorality with all other development issues is crucial to address high population growth rate.
